The "flappers" of today

In my U.S. History Class we were discussing the flappers of 1920 and how they were the girls pushing the envelope. They would wear short dresses (just above the ankle was short!), they smoked cigarettes, cigars, drank prohibited alcohol, used profanity, etc. The older generation in the 1920’s was so mortified of the Flappers. They didn’t understand why girls did that, how they could be so repulsive. These "flappers" were the girls that pushed the envelope to many extremes.

A lot people believe that the way girls should dress and look was established in the 1920's by the flappers. Girls in today's society feel like they need to look a certain way, dress a specific way, and act a certain way. Is this because of the flappers?

Girls today will wear skirts shorter then their arm length down, shirts so revealing their boobs are hanging out, and not to mention how tight they are, oh and who could forget about the make-up? sometimes it is just a little bit to much. Did a dog put on your make-up? I'm not trying to be rude, and I am most deffinity not judging the girls who dress that way, because I have no idea how their personality is. The only thing is first impressions mean a lot to people. You don't want the first impression some one has on you to be "slut" or much worse derogatory words.

Why is our society so shaped on the way women dress?
I personally have been wondering this for a long time now. is it because of the way famous people act? is it because of the slim sized 2 models you see in magazines? or is it because the "flappers" set the bar in 1920?

I don't know what the real answer is, all though it does make me think. I am most definitely afraid for the next generation. is it going to get worse? CAN it get worse? who knows?!

I sincerely hope it doesn't get any worse, that this is as bad as it gets, and the women of this generation and the next learn how to put actual clothes on and do their make up so they don't look like brat dolls.

all I can do is hope.

What is your opinion this matter? are there "flappers" of today?
